NECA Field Leadership Essentials (One-Day Foreperson Training)

Field leaders are on the front lines of every electrical contractor鈥檚 success and our industry’s success. NECA鈥檚 Field Leadership Essentials program is an intensive, one-day learning experience designed to enhance the leadership skills of new and up-and-coming field leaders by covering the 鈥渕ust-know鈥 topics in the electrical contracting industry. This course focuses on the knowledge and skills that every field leader must learn to be an effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the field leader鈥檚 roles and responsibilities
- Use effective communication techniques on the jobsite
- Describe how to better support crews
- Identify the characteristics and behaviours of good leadership
- Motivate crews based on individual and situational needs
- Use a step-by-step process to make better decisions
- Describe the supervisor鈥檚 role in harassment prevention
- Describe the benefits of developing a positive mindset around diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging
- Describe steps you can take to improve crew productivity
- Describe the importance of different types of schedules to the construction process
- Describe the components of costs on a job
- Explain the business impact of poor tool and material management
- Define common types of estimates and the components of a bid estimate
- Describe the supervisor鈥檚 role in creating and maintaining a safe working environment
鈥婶煈 Ideal Audience:听 Anyone who is currently a field leader, in line to become a field leader, or wants to learn what it takes to be a field leader.

About the Presenters: Steve Allred is a seasoned NECA Field Representative and former Executive Director of the WV-OH Valley Chapter, specializing in contractor education, regional agreements, and practical field leadership training for electrical contractors across the Eastern Region.
Course Format:听This is a live, instructor-led, one-day in-person course focused on the core knowledge and skills field leaders need to manage people, time, equipment, and materials effectively in electrical contracting.
